Advancing England's North East economic landscape to power growth

Earlier this month, Scott Dickinson, Associate at SDG Economic Development, gave a talk on Growth Matters, at the new ‘Advancing North East’ conference hosted in Newcastle by PNE Group on the 9 November 2017. 

The event looked to understand and develop the economic landscape across the North East of England, and brought together a panel of experts to develop a new agenda for change, leveraging the assets already in the North East to power economic growth. Scott Dickinson presented original data on the evening, setting the context for the discussion.

In his presentation, Scott focused on the productivity challenge facing the North East, and highlighted the need:

• For employers to commit to investing in staff development and for training providers to improve their offers;
• For local partners to promote and support entrepreneurship to grow the business base; and
• The promotion of innovation to ensure the area is competitive given the changes flowing from the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
