Commissioned to develop a new innovation strategy for Lancashire County

SDG Economic Development has just been appointed by Lancashire County Council and partners to develop a new innovation strategy for the County.  The intention is that the strategy will look forward to 2030.
Drawing on the experience of other places with formal innovation boards and strategies, the work will involve three elements:

  • An assessment of the County’s existing innovation ecosystem, and the new options and threats to building this, that are likely to develop because of future market and technology change.

  • Identifying and defining those key strategic innovation imperatives which the County needs to focus on, leveraging the county’s existing and potential future innovation strengths.

  • Defining actions to take the innovation strategy from concept to reality.

The work is being led by Simon Pringle and Mark Matthews. It will run over a period of five months and will engage extensively with partners and stakeholders as part of the study’s process of work.
