Developing an Economic Strategy for the (re)introduction of the Northumberland Line

Steer Economic Development was commissioned by Northumberland County Council (NCC) in October 2019 to create a Strategic Economic Masterplan for the Ashington to Newcastle Rail Corridor (‘The Northumberland Line’). 

The Northumberland Line has, so far, been developed as a transport project. The work Steer Economic Development undertakes aims to foster collaborate economic development to grow the economy along the broader corridor, connecting promising ‘kernels of opportunity’ and, over time, helping to address the long-standing challenges faces in the adjacent former Mining Communities.
