Supporting the development of Liverpool’s Strength in Places funding bid
Steer Economic Development has been appointed by a partnership created by The University of Liverpool and the Hartree Centre (part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council) to support the development of a Strength in Places bid.
Strength in Places is a funding stream operated by UK Research and Innovation, which seeks to support and drive place-based innovation.
The University of Liverpool and Hartree Centre bid is focused on applying the power of machine learning and Automated Intelligence to help manufacturing firms undertake their materials chemistry innovations more quickly, more efficiently and more cost effectively.
The bid is intended to target a population of 10,000+ firms in the Liverpool-Greater Manchester corridor, whose activities in one way or another involve materials innovation.
The Steer Economic Development team is designing the bid development process, providing support to design the key research tools and frameworks (including a formal logic chain for the intervention), economic analysis/interpretation of likely impact, and formal bid writing.
We are also providing extensive support to the partnership on process issues, building on the highly-effective work method we used to support Liverpool City Region partners more generally in the development of their 2017 Science and Innovation Audit.
The work is being directed by Simon Pringle, managed by Dr Rob Macnee, and supported by our Special Advisor, Dr Mark Matthews.
