Facilitating a Board Development workshop for Cumbria LEP

The Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership hired Steer Economic Development to design and run a one-day Board Development workshop. The LEP sought a lively and engaging session to integrate new members, update the Board on the ever-evolving focus and responsibilities of LEPs, and introduce more strategic-level discussion, at the workshop and in subsequent Board meetings.

The workshop was co-created with the Chair and Chief Executive of the LEP. It featured Steer Economic Development’s update on LEPs and their changing role and priorities, exercises in team building and strategy development and a discussion of the function and time allocation within Board meetings, to include greater time to strategic issues. The day was also a chance for Board members to get acquainted in an out-of-office setting. The feedback following the session was very favourable and the objectives for the assignment were met fully.
